Blog Out Loud is the brainchild of Lynn of the blog Turtlehead. It’s modeled after a similar event that takes place on the last day of BlogHer. Those of us with BlogHer attendance envy now have something local to look forward to.

Our first event took place in June 2009 at Raw Sugar Cafe in Ottawa. Seventeen brave bloggers read and about five photo bloggers displayed their art. We filled the place to the rafters and had a great time.

Our second event took place in July 2010 at Irene’s Pub in Ottawa. Twenty-four bloggers took a turn at the mike, and several photo bloggers passed around scrapbooks of their work. We filled the place until it was bursting at the seams and had a great time.

In 2011 we gathered at The Prescott on Preston Street in Ottawa. Twenty-one bloggers read a post and a dozens photographers displayed their pictures in our first-ever big screen slide show (many thanks to Dani for both the idea and all the legwork).
